About the instructor

Recently retired, Roger has decades of experience working at Drayton Hydroflex, EG&G Sealol, Searle Medical and Borg Warner Mechanical Seals (now part of Flowserve Corporation).


Work progression has been through Project and Development Engineering (involving external work at customer sites). Then as European Application Engineering Manager, Manager of Support Centres for Europe, Middle East and Africa and Engineering Manager for EMA. 10 years of this time he was based in Holland.


Most recently he has been a regional Reliability Engineer for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.


Roger has worked on a large variety of pumping and other rotating shaft machinery (including Naval and Aerospace), in many countries and been involved in the development and application of many standard and special designs for sealing in the industries. He is a UK Chartered Mechanical Engineer, a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute of Corrosion.

He has presented papers at International Conferences, Seminars and forums, is a joint patent holder and has been a member of several cross-industry consortia. He is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the International Conferences on Fluid Sealing.

Roger is currently director of HillSeals; his sealing technology consultancy. He is married and enjoys reading, appreciates music (in many genre) and likes to spend any spare time on DIY and gardening.
